The Syncopating Sea Monkeys of River City High School, are on a quest to make it to New Orleans to perform where jazz originated and to revel in the history of the area. 2017 marks the 20th year that Felicia Weatherly, their amazing jazz band instructor, has been teaching music at River City High School. We want to honor her dedication to these students, who are like a family, in the form of an amazing educational and musical opportunity. The students also want this adventure to be in honor of their friend and fellow jazz musician, Dillon Weatherly, who left us and this world to play jazz in another realm in July of 2016. He was part of their group and they miss him terribly.
There are some uphill battles that come with getting a large school group to another state, one of them being the travel costs. We are needing to raise $26,000 to cover all 19 kids. While we already have a good start at raising money and the students are involved in fundraising efforts as well, we need your help to accomplish making this trip of a lifetime a reality.
You can help the Syncopating Sea Monkeys by contributing to the Sea Monkey Jazz Association. This association was formed by a group of motivated and dedicated parents and grandparents to directly support these young musicians. Your support is key in making sure every band member is able to go. Would you consider donating to help the Sea Monkeys achieve their mission?
We thank you in advance for your support! Your donation is greatly appreciated and 100% of the donation goes directly to the students and the trip costs. You can donate by sending a check made payable to Sea Monkey Jazz Association at 3589 Silverwood Road, West Sacramento, CA 95691. Our California EIN is 81-3862907 for your tax reporting purposes.
